Timeline

Feb 2026 – present

Lyngo asks clinics to trust an AI to speak to patients on their behalf. My role was to design interfaces and touchpoints that made that trust feel tangible, understandable and controllable.

I led design across a series of projects for Lyngo AI, an AI receptionist platform for healthcare clinics. Trust quickly emerged as the product’s central design challenge: users needed to feel confident in the platform before signing up, while onboarding and during day-to-day use inside the dashboard.

The problem

Clinics were hesitant to adopt Lyngo because the platform required access to sensitive patient systems before users had fully understood or developed confidence in the product.

The solution

My work focused on reducing uncertainty across three critical moments in the experience: first impression, onboarding and ongoing use.

This project includes a mix of shipped and in-progress work across Lyngo’s marketing site, onboarding flow and dashboard. The motion system and parts of the web experience are currently live, while onboarding and dashboard improvements are in development.

Shaping confidence before sign-up

User need: trust

Lyngo’s users care deeply about reliability, patient experience, privacy and accuracy. The challenge was to translate those expectations into a web experience that felt calm, competent and predictable from the very first interaction.

The system

I developed a reusable visual and motion system grounded in Lyngo’s existing brand attributes – calm, helpful, professional, intelligent and human – designed to communicate clarity and control without overwhelming users or making the AI feel opaque. This system extended beyond motion into a full website redesign, shaping information hierarchy, product storytelling and visual tone across the entire site (to be documented here shortly).

Applying the system

I applied the system across a full redesign of Lyngo’s web experience, starting with motion-driven homepage touchpoints that introduced prospective users to the product before onboarding began. Rather than treating motion as decoration, interactions and layouts were designed to reinforce responsiveness and trust at key moments across the browsing experience.

Visual system and identity

I combined 19th-century Romanticist oil paintings with subtle glassmorphic UI elements to create a visual language that balanced Lyngo’s AI-driven intelligence with a grounded, human presence. Supporting elements such as thinking and speaking indicators were designed to make the system feel more responsive and interpretable.

Onboarding

Building confidence before commitment

"It's like being asked for your credit card before you've even seen the product."

Clinic owner, user research

Onboarding became a critical moment in the experience. Clinics were being asked to connect sensitive systems and trust an AI with patient communication before fully understanding how the product behaved in practice.

To reduce uncertainty at this stage, I focused on making Lyngo’s behaviour more visible, predictable and interpretable throughout the onboarding flow. The experience was designed to reinforce clarity and control while demonstrating the system’s value in real time.

Users can access a real-time simulation of how Lyngo would respond to calls based on their current settings and clinic information. Presented in a secondary modal panel, the preview creates a continuous feedback loop that helps users understand how configuration changes affect real-world behaviour. Rather than relying on abstract setup steps, the feature makes the product’s value tangible before onboarding is complete.

Progressive disclosure

Onboarding questions are progressively revealed in a conversational, chat-like format designed to reduce cognitive load and make setup feel more approachable.

Services

Autofilled from Website

The Ostroff Centre provides comprehensive primary care services including general practice consultations, chronic disease management and preventive health screenings. The clinic also offers women’s health services, mental health support, immunisations and minor procedures. Patients can access same-day appointments for urgent concerns as well as ongoing care plans tailored to long-term health needs.

Review and confirm

Instead of asking users to configure every detail manually, the system presents much of the clinic context back to the user for confirmation and refinement.

Dashboard

Reinforcing control after adoption

Once clinics had adopted Lyngo, the focus shifted from building confidence to maintaining clarity and control during day-to-day use. The dashboard was redesigned to present complex operational information in a way that felt structured, predictable and easy to navigate.

At a glance: before and after

Information hierarchy

The redesign prioritises three core KPIs with trend lines and expandable detail, making the dashboard faster to scan and interpret.

Data density & progressive disclosure

The redesign separates metrics with incompatible scales and reveals detail progressively, improving clarity and readability.

Metric reframing

Metrics were reframed from system activity to business outcomes, bringing users closer to evidence of real product value.

Reflection

What I'd improve

Empty state considerations

One area I’d revisit is the things to do section: at present, the section defaults to a generic “caught up” state. To add utility here, dynamic cards could be used to highlight contextual, actionable prompts driven by clinic data – like missed calls without follow-up, gaps in FAQ coverage or upcoming busy periods – guiding users towards high-value actions and tasks in moments of downtime.

Testimonials

"Joseph was a brilliant all-rounder product designer at Lyngo. He picked up everything we threw at him across the product spectrum, big or small, and consistently delivered the outcome we were after – from motion graphics and web design to onboarding flows and dashboard redesigns. A lot of the work was ambiguous with very little hand-holding – the kind of thing only a true self-starter can navigate – and Joseph handled it brilliantly. He pulled context from the right people, leaned on the right resources, and wasn't shy about flagging gaps in his understanding. He embraced our AI workflows quickly and actively looked for new ways to deliver creative when we asked him to push further. I'd highly recommend Joseph to anyone after a self-starter who can be trusted with creative freedom and a loose brief."
